This week, we discuss The Best Years Of Our Lives (1946), based on the novella Glory For Me. It’s an honest movie about three men from different walks of life returning home after the war and their struggles to settle back into civilian life. Also, weird hats.

Glory for Me by MacKinlay Kantor is a beautifully-written novella about three American servicemen returning to their lives after the war. Written in blank verse and using repeating motifs to great effect, it is poignant, emotionally affecting, and ultimately hopeful. I read so many lines that knocked me on my ass. Great stuff.
