Description
This week, we welcome back our SAS Rogue Heroes Correspondent George and talk to actor Corin Silva, who portrays Jim Almonds in SAS Rogue Heroes seasons 1 and 2 (he was also in Masters of the Air and All the Light We Cannot See, in case you want to watch more WW2 things which Corin!). We had a fabulous time, and hope Corin did too! Thanks, Corin!

At the time of our recording, Corin had just started reading Winston Churchill’s The Second World War (or his war memoirs) and recommended them to us and you. The set of six books covers the entirety of the war from Churchill’s point of view, so it’s bound to be an interesting—if long—read for anyone interested in an inside look from the Brit at the helm.

Gentleman Jim: The Wartime Story of a Founder of the SAS & Special Forces by Lorna Almonds-Windmill is an intimate memoir of Jim Almonds’ wartime experiences. Written by his daughter and drawing from Jim’s own diaries, various primary sources, and interviews with other ‘originals’, this is a must-read for those wanting to know more about Almonds’ years in the SAS.

Escaping the Ordinary: How a Founder of the SAS Blazed a Trail at the End of Empire by Lorna Almonds-Windmill is as much of a must-read as the previous book and somewhat of a sequel, as it offers candid truths about life after the Second World War. Jim Almonds’ was far from ordinary.
