The Dunkirk beach scene in Atonement

Hey, quick note from Maartje here. It’s unlikely that we will ever cover the movie Atonement in the Rosie the Reviewer podcast because Sam is not nearly as into drama as I am. However, I wanted to share with you the amazing scene about Dunkirk in the movie Atonement, which came out in 2007 and was directed by Joe Wright.

Cinematically, this depiction of the Dunkirk beach is very impressive. Not only is it one continuous shot, but it is also very different to Dunkirk (the Nolan movie) in that it is chaotic, crowded, and not nearly as desolate. It’s funny how the same scene can be depicted so differently, yet both are impactful. The music is also very moving.

Anyway, here ‘t is.
